On the Island
In the beach area there are a number of local restaurants catering for a wide range of tastes. Ayamonte and Punto del Moral are both active fishing ports so fresh fish is an everyday occurrence. For those who seek something familiar for children there is Ja’s Bar & Restaurant which offers good home made food oriented towards the English, and has direct access to/from the beach. Within 20 metres of Ja’s there are Spanish restaurants and Bistros with excellent local fish, pasta and other dishes.

At the eastern end of the Island is the Marina (reached by a short drive or walk along the beautiful promenade). Here you can find a small Commercial Centre with a number of Bars, cafes and restaurants together with a small supermarket.

Just opposite the Marina is the Spanish village of Punto del Moral which has a number of great fish restaurants (a knowledge of some Spanish is required) and also the Pharmacy.

Ayamonte stands high above the River Guadiana, just across the Spanish border with Portugal. There are neatly whitewashed houses and pleasant rose filled squares to sit with a coffee or a cerveza (beer) and soak up the atmosphere. There is a beautiful promenade along the harbour that is lined with palm trees and the town has a daily fish market. There are many superb fish and tapas restaurants to sample, the residents are friendly and welcoming. This is authentic Spain. For street maps and information about the area, please click here.
Seville is Andalucia's biggest and most exciting city, it lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir River and is one of the largest historical centres of Europe. It is also one of the homes of Flamenco and bullfighting and has great shopping and nightlife. It is just over a 1-hour drive into Seville and an easy drive on a dual carriage motorway (about 150km).
